The Ones That Got Away

Neil Jauquet

Neil Jauquet, 2000

Neil was working for the previous shop before I took over. It was my first year in 2000 and Neil’s last year as a UWP student when he came in on occasion to help us out. Neil was a freestyle kinda guy and real hard core about it. He eventually got married and last I heard had a daughter. Last I heard he was in the Green Bay area. I saw him for a brief moment in the summer of 2006. Neil is a hard core Packer fan and avid beer connoisseur.

John Bottrell

John Bottrell, 2000 – 2004

Or JB as most people know him. JB worked from 2000 to 2004. I think he may be the longest running shop rat I have had. Poor JB had to put up with me in my early years of learning how to run a shop. He has seen me at some of my most frustrated and elated moments. I am not sure if he will ever over come the trauma I put him through. JB was a great young man that I got to see grow up. JB had a love for music and has graduated as a music engineer. Biker, snowboarder and a musical craftsman. Just recently JB has gotten engaged to Liz. I am very proud of JB and l hope his musical career goes well, and his relationship with Liz will grow forever and ever and ever….

Tucker Kobylski

Tucker Kobylski, 2003

Tucker was a trials kinda guy, and came in only a few times to help out in 2003 or there abouts. Tucker would come in between classes and hang out and read as much tech info as he could from the cycling rags. I enjoyed it when he hung out and shared all the new info with me, keeping me up to date. I remember Tucker having a big passion for cycling. Tucker is now living out in Connecticut where he is designing helicopters for Sikorsky Aircraft. A little different than bikes but he really enjoys it.

Jason Svaldi

Jason Svaldi, 2002 – 2004

Jason enjoyed racing on the road and loved cycle cross. He did a fair share of mtn biking as well. Jason has always been good for the shop, was always nice to know I had Jason looking out for my best interest. Jason got a job at Trek his first year out of school as a sales rep. He has now moved up ( or maybe down?) to a buyers position.

Jim Barmore

Jim Barmore, 2003 – 2004

Jim loves to bike, run, bike, kayak, and bike as well. Now he is out east somewhere lost in his kayak, I am sure. Jim was famous for winning the first platteville Tri-athlon. Of course Tim had to call and wake him up, he shows up late & hung over and still wins the Tri. Must have been the Yaeger bombs!!

Kate Ross

Kate Ross, 2004-2005

Kate worked with us form 2004 to 05. Kate was great with customers and was very good at getting people to have fun on bikes. Kate was an avid off-road racer and after graduating from the UWP she landed herself on the America’s Dairyland Racing Team where she started racing on the road. Kate is now in Boulder training, racing the states and working for the well known University Bicycles of Boulder, CO. I truely miss Kate and when she comes to town we try to get together and reunite at Steve’s Pizza. After a ride of course. you can visit kate’s blog, her team blog, and her team web site. That should give you plenty to look at. Good luck Kate, I miss you and hope the best for you.

Molly Zuehlke

Molly Zuehlke 2005 – 2007

Molly and her family became close friends in 2002. She started biking to take Mommy breaks and fell in love with the biking. Molly and family moved in 2008 and have been greatly missed. We wait for them to move back some day so Molly can lead more womens rides.

Kyle Ebbe

Kyle Ebbe, 2004-2006

What do you do when a customer comes in to the shop and they never leave? You hire them. My Kyle was so good at reading my mind on projects, all I had to do was tell him what I needed done and it would get done just the way I would have done it. I sold Kyle his first bike in 2004 and he fell in love with biking. I was very fortunate to have Kyle with me from 2004 to 2006. The little shit graduated and left me for a real job.

Justin Wendorf

Justin Wendorf, 2004 – 2008

Justin was our BMX/free ride guy. He was always riding over something or jumping over something. He was always quick to get a job done and was very handy in getting jumps built out at the Fritz farm. Justin came to work at Momentum in the fall of 2004 and worked till he graduated in the spring of 2008. Justin has plans ot get married and we wish him the best.

Joe Nolan

Joe Nolan, 2006 – 2007

Joe was a great help when I really needed someone here to depend on. The greatest thing happened when Joe graduated and quit working at Momentum , he got a job locally and stayed in the area. It was really good having Joe stick around. Joe has been involved a lot in trail building and has gotten involved in the community. Joe started in May of 2006 to some time in 2007.

Hunter Hitzeman

Hunter Hitzemann, 2007

Hunter started with us in Sept. of 07. He is quite involved in the snowmobile club on campus and he is the guy praying for snow days so he can go off and play. If he doesn’t show up to class and there is snow on the ground for sure he is not sick in bed but out on his sled. Hunter has done a great job of showing me how unorganized I am. It will take me a few days to find all my tools after he spends a day here in the shop. Of course they have been put where they are suppose to be, I am just not sure where that is.

Joel Austin

Joel Austin, 2007 – 2009

Joel started working in Feb. of 07. Joel has been an avid cyclist for years, enjoying road and off-road riding. Joel has spent some time living and adventuring in Alaska. Joel does a lot of canoeing, camping, and photographing the outdoors. Joel has recently moved to Ashland WI to start a new chapter in his life. check out his photos online.

Noah Metz

Noah Metz, 2006 – 2009

Noah was our snowman, he loves the winter, snow and snowboarding. Noah will be missed terribly as he has moved to Gunnison CO in August of 2009 to go to school. He promised to come back in the summer to work, but I think some beautiful woman will sweep him off his feet and we will never see him again. Noah started in April of 2006.

Eric Moe

Eric Moe 2009 – 2010

The Biking Viking as we called him. Eric came aboard last may. He was a great help last summer supporting me in a 24 hour race. Eric graduated May of 2010 and took a job before he even walked at graduation.
